Explanations of Roles

President

The President is responsible for:

  • oversees all running of the club
  • representing the club in contact with external organisations
  • chairing committee meetings
  • organising the AGM
  • sitting on the executive committee

Vice President

The Vice President is accountable to the president and is responsible for:

  • acting on behalf of the president when the president is absent.
  • new membership communication
  • entering player information into Sporting Pulse
  • coordinating the Winter and Summer competitions
  • maintaining a membership database
  • organising membership drives
  • performing the role of president when the president is unavailable
  • sitting on the executive committe

Secretary

The Secretary is accountable to the President and Vice-President and is responsible for:

  • recording and distributing the minutes of meetings
  • collating all correspondence
  • announcing all official and operational information
  • handling player transfers and permits
  • handling the communication of the club with external organisations
  • sitting on the executive committee

Treasurer

The Treasurer is accountable to the President and Vice President and is responsible for:

  • managing the day to day finances of the club
  • chasing debts
  • liasing with Swinburne Sports in relation to money matters
  • paying all bills relating to the club
  • organising funds for team managers to pay umpires
  • sitting on the executive committee

Media

The Media Manager is accountable to the executive committee and is responsible for:

  • managing the production of club publications.
  • producing articles for 'Snorter's Report', 'The Swung' and 'Full Boar'
  • producing flyers for up and coming events
  • producing the year book
  • liasing with the web manager
  • being an honourary member of the social committee

Social Manager

The Social Manager is accountable to the executive committee and is responsible for:

  • organising at least one social function during the year
  • the organisation of presentation night, and shirt presentation night
  • liasing with Fundraising manager
  • organisation of Albury and other tournaments
  • liasing with Media and Web Managers to promote events
  • developing and executing fundraising programs.
  • seeking sponsorship
  • ensuring rules and regulations are followed in relation to compliance
  • selling merchandise items for the club

Web

The Web Designer is accountable to the executive committee and is responsible for:

  • managing the development of the club web pages
  • managing the hosting of the club web pages and mailing lists
  • liasing with the Media manager

General Committee

The General Committee are accountable to the executive committee and are responsible for:

  • supporting and providing feedback to the committee
  • representing the wider community of the club

Women's Coach

The Women's Coach is responsible for:

  • developing the hockey skills of all Women's players at the club.
  • leading training sessions with the aid of the Assistant coach, Club Development coach and senior players.
  • being a part of the selection panel.
  • managing the bench of the senior team on gameday.
  • leading the pre-match and half-time talks for the senior team.
  • acting as a liason between the committee and players

Women's Assistant Coach

The Women's Assistant Coach is responsible for:

  • helping the Women's coach develop the hockey skills of all Women's players at the club.
  • helping run training sessions with the Women's coach, Club Development coach and senior players
  • being a part of the selection panel.
  • managing the bench of the seconds team on gameday.
  • leading the pre-match and half-time talks for the seconds team.
  • acting as a liason between the committee, senior coach and players.

Men's Coach

The Men's Coach is responsible for:

  • developing the hockey skills of all Men's players at the club.
  • leading training sessions with the aid of the Assistant coach, Club Development coach and senior players.
  • being a part of the selection panel.
  • managing the bench of the senior team on gameday.
  • leading the pre-match and half-time talks for the senior team.
  • acting as a liason between the committee and players

Men's Assistant Coach

The Men's Assistant Coach is responsible for:

  • helping the Women's coach develop the hockey skills of all Men's players at the club.
  • helping run training sessions with the Men's coach, Club Development Coach and senior players
  • being a part of the selection panel.
  • managing the bench of the seconds team on gameday.
  • leading the pre-match and half-time talks for the seconds team.
  • acting as a liason between the committee, senior coach and players.

Club Development Coach

The Club Development Coach is responsible for:

  • helping the Women's and Men's coaches develop the hockey skills of all players at the club, with a distinct focus on more inexperienced players.
  • helping run training sessions with the Women's and Men's coaches
  • being a part of the Women's and Men's selection panels.
  • acting as a liason between the committee, senior coaches and players.

Team Managers

Team managers are responsible for;

  • ensuring that all players named in their team are available.
  • filling out the team book (this is best done before the game), and ensuring that it is signed by both umpires at the end of the game
  • paying the umpires with club funds.
  • collecting votes for best player
  • entering results online via the Sporting Pulse website
  • collecting payments from players in lieu of the treasurer
  • acting as a liason between players and the committee

Team Captains

Team Captains are responsible for:

  • playing as a role model for other players in the team.
  • leading the pre-match and half-time talks when no coach is present.
  • acting as a liason between players and coaches
